Overall technical responsibility for all inspection activities and engineering assessments on refinery static equipment. Establishing, setting and monitoring inspection systems and improvement programs in order to predict the requirement for repair or replacement in order to prevent equipment failure and/or loss of containment that may lead to endangering people, the environment or impacting the business. Key achievements and responsibilities are:• Technical manager in accordance with the requirements of ISO 17020. Successfully achieved satisfactory outcomes following regular audits by both UKAS and the HSE. Upheld accredited status of a type B inspection body including the seamless transition to the 2012 version of the inspection standard.• Successfully established a methodology and managed the review process for Written Schemes of Examination (WSE) for all refinery static equipment. This resulted in the production of equipment specific inspection procedures based on inspection history, current operating regimes and the consequence and likelihood of failure.• Fully developed the computerised inspection management system using supported software whilst incorporating existing company methods and procedures to ensure all legislative requirements were met.• Prepared and fully controlled a circa £2m budget for all inspection activities including managing sub-contracts for NDT services.• Managed a team of Inspection Engineers and Inspectors on a day-to-day basis and during major turnaround and inspection events to ensure that all objectives were fully met. Monitored progress using key performance indicators.• Developed the skills and competencies of subordinates within the department.• Represented the company at conferences, seminars and relevant industry forums typically hosted by IMechE, CIA and EEMUA to ensure the transfer of best practice and technology.
