I am required to drive and operate firefighting vehicles to include evasive maneuvering of firefighting apparatus ensuring a safe and expedient arrival, position vehicle safely and effectively, selecting an alternate route when necessary, operating pumps and foam initiators and determining proper pressure requirements during pump operations. I am licensed to drive and operate the Striker, P-22, P-27, P-19, P-23, P-20, P-tS, and P-30. When considering vehicle positioning factors, I have experience determining wind direction, terrain, exposures, sources of water, hazards from building collapse, location of armament on aircraft and able to evaluate a safe working distance from the fire allowing an escape route. While working at Sheppard Air Force Base's auxiliary field in Frederick Oklahoma I provided fire protection for the pilot training program that involved the T-37. Duties consisted of quick fire knockdown and expedient egress of both pilot and student involved in an Inflight or ground emergency. I responded to several bird strikes, hot brakes, engine problems and our station crew was first on scene to a mid-air collision involving a crop duster and T-37. Several other duties were assigned and included landing and launching aircraft, towing aircraft, logging weekly fuel reports as the Fuel Tank Custodian and monitoring airfield conditions for grass height, ponding, FOD and pavement markings. I served, temporarily, as the Supervisory Lead Firefighter and acting Incident Commander at all emergencies there at the auxiliary field.the exercise effective and efficiently. While serving as the Supervisory Lead Firefighter I also held the position as Facility Manager and was tasked with ensuring that MSDS's were available for all chemicals at the station, weekly eye wash station inspections, fire extinguisher inspections and record keeping.
