I worked with two main areas: process improvement and forecast development. My work on process improvement was in the launch management and GSS product improvement projects. For launch management, I used Visio to map the current state processes of data entry and testing for two of the company's databases. For GSS product improvement, I used Python and MySQL to simulate process improvement on customer integration. The simulation calculated revenue advancements as a result of shortening integration time to less than a fifth of its original value. In the forecast development project, I worked on improving forecast analysis and creating a web UI for the forecast system. Improving forecast analysis consisted of developing a volatility index that essentially rates how good a forecast it, and predicting invoice modifications to determine how likely particular invoices were likely to be modified on a particular month. The implementation of the web UI involved using Javascript frameworks such as Bootstrap and AngularJS to create a webpage that displays forecast data for specific contracts. Show less

Using the Caltrans Performance Measurement System, I worked with big data regarding various conditions on the freeway before and after traffic incidents to determine the impact of each variable on the probability of an accident. Using Python and MySQL, I created a back-end program to organize and gather data from sensors along Route 101 and separate the data into cells for use in a probabilistic model of traffic incidents along the freeway. In the spring, I generated visual representations of the data and used statistical tests and modified regressions to determine trends in the data. Specifically, values for congestion speed, peak flow rate, and free flow speed were determined for specific segments and times on the highway. Show less

I worked with GMO's PACE database to develop a web application that would help the data management team find potential errors in large data quantities. Using the QlikView platform, I integrated SQL and some Javascript into creating a visual method to accentuate potential frequency, aberrant case, and null data errors in the security data. I used Mathematica to model entanglement of quantum bits within cluster states. The model considered different orientations of the bits and determined the results of data sampling on adjacent bits of data within the cluster state. I digitally modeled and tested a new flexible build of an acoustic emission sensor which operates based on the piezoelectric effect. The lead zirconate titanate nanosensor has the ability to convert electrical to mechanical energy and vice versa on a microscopic scale. This results in many applications of the sensor, the most prominent of which is in structural health monitoring.
