Checked that the accountancy used was in line with the financial reporting framework (IFRS), provided analysis on the financial performance of the last few years. Concluded whether business entity passes financial solvency checks and moves to the next stage of application or whether a more in depth review needs to be undertaken.• UK GAAP to IFRS transitional work – completed analysis on the largest businesses in the London region, namely Tier 1 banks to assess whether there was any tax risk associated with the change in adoption of the new UK accounting framework. Analysed financial statements and made a judgement on whether there was any tax implication to the adjustments made by these entities.• Reviewed all of the litigation cases (open and closed) within the last three years from Fraud Investigation Service and Large Business and analysed what stage of litigation this was in, the tax risk to HMRC and if closed, how long the case was open for. Presented information in forms that both financial and non-financial colleagues could understand.

Business Tax – Planning and Performance Business Tax is responsible for the design and collection of over £200bn in taxes and duties from business customers.• The business has a target to collect £1.2bn of tax revenue from additional legislation that if not in place would be lost through tax avoidance. Had sole responsibility for the assurance of this tax yield, that contributes a large portion of the overall target of £8bn. Managed key stakeholder relationships within this area through constant communication and challenged on decisions to ensure adequate evidence received ahead of an audit review, resulting in exceeding the target by £0.6bn.• Took responsibility for the management and assembly of the monthly Senior Leadership Meeting. Assisted Directors in collection and analysis of both quantitative and qualitative date to be presented and discussed at the meeting. Time management was essential when delivering to strict deadlines especially when briefing Directors on subject areas ahead of meeting. Collated and distributed relevant documents and information to attendees before and after meeting.
