Engineer for Fire Safety, Risk and Blast Protection related design work; mainly focusing on protection of occupied buildings on or near petrochemical facilities. Most of my work at IKM is focused on performing Occupied Building Risk Assessments (OBRA) in accordance with CIA guidance. I also specialise in the component parts of this such as Blast Resistant design (using SDOF methods) and Fire Safety Engineering (using Eurocode 3, SFPE and SINTEF methods). Additional proficiencies include: DSEAR Compliance Structural Engineering Design & Inspections Fire & Explosion Modelling Fire Protection Engineering (Fire-stopping, PFP compliance, Active Fire Protection) Gas Dispersion & Ventilation Risk Assessments Fire Risk Assessments Fire Safety Code Compliance Show less

Managing and overseeing the technical safety consultancy.Approving all major technical deliverables for the consultancy.Providing technical support for every consultant in‐case of any complex issuesCreating and developing commercial proposals for clientsProviding presentations and running Micropack’s Fire and Gas Detection Technology Course.Experienced working with relevant codes, regulations (PFEER Reg 10), standards, technical design and engineering practices. I commonly comment and review HAZOPs, COMAHs, LOPAs, ALARP Workshops, QRAs and Safety Cases.Familiar with CFD packages (CHAM, FLACS) especially for gas dispersion, explosion overpressure assessments, smoke and toxic gas migration/ ingress. Fully capable of designing aspirating smoke detection system layouts (VESDA Systems).Fully familiar with IEC 61508/61511 legislation and I am a Certified Functional SafetyProfessional (CFSP) for the Process Industries (IEC 61511). Fire Hazard Analysis: Gas Leak/ dispersion/ late ignition/ explosion hazard Jet/ pool/ spray fires modelling including harm transmission, mechanisms of heat transfer Recommended precautions and mitigation requirements. Implications for evacuation, muster point viability, structural integrity, survivability.Regularly work with and for the following clients: BP, Shell, Chevron, EnQuest, Centrica, Exxon Mobil, Apache, Total, ADCO, ADNOC, Occidental Petroleum, TAQA throughout most major Oil and Gas theatres. During my summer internship I worked with the team responsible for the land remediation works for the 2014 Commonwealth Games Athletes Village Site. I conducted environmental surveys and assessments on potential toxic locations to ascertain whether any contaminants migrated into the water supply and local ecology as a whole. I also validated/ screened the subsequent laboratory data after collecting samples from site, followed by analysing the data and compiling monthly/ quarterly reports to SEPA (Scottish Environmental Protection Agency). Furthermore, I had to do other engineering tasks such as draft drawings in AutoCAD, construct MS Excel spreadsheets detailing environmental data collected from various sites across Scotland (mostly landfill areas) and analyse geological strata to gain a better idea of the ground structure beneath the survey sites.
