Worked in medical device company in Melbourne, Australia on a six month contract. Ingeneus is ISO 13485 accredited and produces a range of medical devices. Key roles: • Worked on over 30 design changes required for the release of the eyeConnect device, which is an telemedical ophthalmic instrument that allows a trained nurse to capture images and data; and transmit them to a qualified ophthalmologist. This device is being targeted at remote communities where it is currently impossible to diagnose conditions without the patient travelling to an eye hospital. • Compiled a test plan, performed testing and wrote supporting documentation for a new connector which is used as part of the LiVac Liver Retractor System for use during laparoscopic surgery. • Drawing updates for eyePressure, a single-use device used for measuring intra ocular pressure. Spent time in the Neurological Products Division before moving to the Encoder Products Division. Key roles include: Design of new products, including assembly tools and fixtures. This includes building prototypes from laser cut acrylic and using 3D printing. Alpha testing as part of new product development, including thermal cycling, vibration and shock testing. Completed a two week course in milling, turning and bench fitting at Gloucestershire Engineering Training Projects include: Development of new scale products • Responsible for taking product through concept feasibility, to alpha testing and process capability before entering full production. Converting an existing product for use in ultra-high vacuum environments • Adhesive changes to reduce outgassing, including research into UV curing methods. • Changes in material selection (brass, plastics, etc.) Assisted in creating a new semi-automated test jig for testing components. • Assisted in the design and build of the test machine. • Designed and built an automated binning machine which sorted test units into categorised bins.
