I have known Stephany for about 10 years, originally meeting her through the Omidyar Fellows program while she was the CEO at Kahuku Medical Center. I was immediately impressed with her leadership style - bold, compassionate, and humble. She was consistently lifting those up around her and finding ways to bring the best out of her staff and her partners. In 2019 while I was the Executive Director at Hawaii Energy, I had a new position which I was looking to fill. I approached Stephany and encouraged her to apply as I knew she had the right skills I was looking for in this position - engaging and collaborating with the community and our partners. This position had her leading a new effort to deepen our assistance to those who needed utility bill relief the most. This role was untraditional for energy efficiency program implementation, meaning Stephany had to develop the roadmap that would lead to greater impact. While Stephany had no energy experience at the time, she was a quick study and found ways to deliver highly technical information in an approachable way. She always found a positive way forward through challenges and adversity. She achieved many of the desired outcomes of the position and is well on her way to accomplishing more. I thoroughly enjoyed working with Stephany and appreciated her integrity, commitment, and work ethic. I would welcome the opportunity to work with her again in the future as she is an asset to any organization she is a part of.
