This research involves a modern integration of all available subsurface geophysical data and drill core to assess the depositional motif and internal architecture of the Paleozoic succession throughout the region. This work is ongoing, but the investigation has thus far revealed the existence of significant NW-SE transpressional shear (historically considered to be arches) throughout the region associated with the Ouachita Orogeny. Additionally, analysis of the internal architecture of these strata, regionally, permit precise chronostratigraphic constraint of tectonic episodes down to the subgroup level. In addition to basin modeling I am also working to assess sources of road aggregate (Aggregate Stratigraphy) for the Iowa and Kansas departments of transportation. Duties include sequence stratigraphic, and, if need be, biostratigraphic analyses of aggregate resources in these states to improve upon current correlations of strata and our understanding of how these aggregate sources were deposited (e.g., what eustatic systems tract, water depth, facies belts, etc.). Duties also include permeability and porosity testing, and petrographic analysis of aggregates. Lastly, I am also assisting in surface to bedrock mapping for the Kansas STATEMAP project in Cowley County, Kansas. Show more Show less
