The Free Pharmacy program provides free prescription medication to North Carolina residents who are low-income, uninsured and fall at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level. This statewide program is the answer for those who do not have the means to obtain lifesaving prescription medication to treat common diseases, such as heart disease, diabetes, and asthma. Our Mission: To dispense opportunities through improved health. Our Vision: NC MedAssist seeks to ensure that no eligible person in North Carolina has to choose between purchasing food or their needed medication; improving the patient’s health and lowering uncompensated health care costs for all stakeholders. *Named as one of the top 25 non-profit organizations in Charlotte by the Charlotte Business Journal. Serves patients by preparing medications and monitoring patient drug therapies. Prepares medications by reviewing and interpreting physician orders and detecting therapeutic incompatibilities. Dispenses medications by packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals. Controls medications by monitoring drug therapies; advising interventions. Completes pharmacy operational requirements by organizing and directing technicians’ workflow, verifying their preparation and labeling of pharmaceuticals, and verifying order entries and inspections. Provides pharmacological information by answering questions and requests of health care professionals and counseling patients on drug therapies. Show less
