  Co-founded JAE as a Haitian dance 501c3 organization and leading force in preserving and advancing the Haitian dance tradition. The Abreu Fellows Program trains musicians and music educators "who are passionate about their art and social change" to lead El Sistema-inspired programs in the U.S. My accomplishments and responsibilities included: • Successfully launched The Abreu Fellows Program • Managed overall design and execution of The Abreu Fellows Program, including two-month residency in Venezuela and shorter domestic trips, acting as a liaison with Abreu Fellows Program Faculty and colleagues throughout the U.S. and Venezuela • Traveled extensively in Venezuela to observe El Sistema at its source, in collaboration with Venezuelan leadership • Managed the Fellow Admissions process, participating as a key member in the selection committee • Developed and implement methods of monitoring and evaluation for the Abreu Fellows Program and collaborated with leading experts on early development of a national evaluation and research plan for the El Sistema movement in the U.S. • Acted as a resource to individuals and organizations interested in starting El Sistema-inspired programs throughout the U.S., • Formalized information on nearly 40 existing El Sistema-inspired programs in the U.S. and another 30 in planning, creating a directory and database • Played key communications role for the El Sistema network in the U.S. through email subscriber service and Facebook • Led further planning and development of the El Sistema USA website, including an integrated approach to social networking and related multimedia • Key member of El Sistema USA Steering Committee and key contributor to strategic planning process for El Sistema USA • Collaborated with NEC’s President’s Office, and Development and Marketing departments on special events, fundraising efforts and media relations Show less
