The Elm Tree is a local estate pub which serves both food and drink where I worked during my final year at university before graduating. Also hosts functions with high numbers of customers. As bar staff and waitress I was the face of the business and first call for customer queries and complaints. I was regularly left alone meaning I had to deal with any complaints alone. I worked on the bar, the cloakroom and on the box office throughout my time at University. This meant I had to manage my time effectively often with late nights working and studying during the day. I worked on the bar, the cloakroom and on the box office throughout my time at University. I undertook a 3 day works experience with Network Rails Legal team, focusing on Commercial matters. During my time I sat in on a number of meetings with solicitors and clients on matters such as landslides and the new HS1 link. I also had to research the information needed in advance of meeting, including reading case files to make sure I was aware of the case. I also attended a full day preliminary meeting for the new Thames Tunnel and was required to take notes and discuss with other members of the team any issues I felt could affect Network Rail. I participated in a weeks work experience shadowing a solicitor who specialises in personal injury law, specifically serious head injuries and claims against the MOD. During my time I gained experience in researching, summing up cases and judgements. I was asked to write letters to clients and documents for various stages of a claim including a letter of claim, witness statements and a request for a medical report. Some of these were used by the solicitor. I also attended both initial interviews and follow up meetings with clients as well as case meetings with judges. Show less

Handled both hot and cold food and drinks, dealt with my own till and processing it. I had to deal with a number of customers during calm and busy periods, including any complaints they had. During my time I successfully completed several mystery shoppers which aimed to test customer service standards. Handled both hot and cold food and drinks, dealt with my own till and processing it. Truly Scrumptious was a small family run café where I worked as a waitress and a cook. I would prepare and make a number of meals and snacks. Due to this I was trained in relevant health and safety regulations. I was also regularly left alone in the running of the café and other members of staff. I would both open and close the café, handle money and the running of the till. I also had to order and receive stock and on occasions, organise wages and time sheets.
