Sprigg Abbott Incorporated signed my articles off at the end of 2018. Since then, I have been employed as an audit senior. I plan, conduct and finalise audit engagements assigned to me without supervision. Many of the audit engagements I am assigned to require an audit team made up of junior trainee accountants whom I manage, oversee and assist. In addition to audit engagements I also perform review engagements, compilations and tax tasks. Due to the flat hierarchical structure within the firm I report directly to the Audit Partners. I conduct the bulk of my work on Caseware and Microsoft Excel.

SAICA Article Clerk. I planned, conducted and finalised audit engagements of small to medium size entities, including the preparation of financial statements in accordance with IFRS for SME’s. In addition, I performed compilations and independent review engagements. I was assigned my own salaried clients for whom I performed monthly EMP201’s, EMP501’s every six months accompanied by the completion of their IRP5’s. I was also assigned VAT clients for whom I processed monthly bank statements, calculate their vat payable / receivable at the end of their vat periods and complete and submit the VAT201’s in time. I was exposed to a wide range of income tax tasks. I performed income tax calculations and prepared and submitted income tax returns of various individuals, many of whom had more than one source of income, overseas income, capital gains on properties, and so forth.
