I worked with Steffen for a couple of years during his tenures as CI director at Pilgrim’s/Tulip. Steffen was a good support for the sites and had a good overview of the operations of the 4 abattoirs within the business. He offered support with optimising the overall utilisation of the 4 factories to the best extend of the equipment, but also supported with the day to day optimisation e.g. yield, labour or other activities linked to daily ops. He has a very in-depth knowledge of the industry and re-engineering specifications and ways of working to the benefit of the business as a whole. He also was a good to think out side the box on complex issues.

Steffen is that rather rare breed of professional...one who speaks plainly, but draws upon an acute understanding of his expertise. His direct style is refreshing and lacks the baggage of censored sycophancy. I have always found him to be a consummate professional with huge reserves of drive and gusto. His exterior veneer of calm hides a man who is brimming with passion. Measured and composed at all times, one should never doubt that Steffen cares and that he cares deeply. Integrity, grit and the ability to lift himself above the 'noise' define him, as does his willingness to trust others, whilst always ensuring they can rely on his honesty and judgement. From the moment I met Steffen, I knew he was exceptional. I have not changed my mind.
