Interned at the Political Advisor's Office (POLAD), which provides both policy and political advise to the Commander (a 4* General) and to the staff at Joint Force Command Brunssum. Some of my responsibilities included: • preparing the the POLAD's weekly comprehensive briefing to the Commander (this entailed continuously monitoring open and closed sources for relevant political developments, deciding on what topics to include in the brief, representing the POLAD at the the weekly coordination meetings, conducting rigorous analysis on the chosen topics, and writing speech notes;• the writing of regular policy analyses and briefs for the Commander and other high-ranking officers. In this context, I coordinated with other units in order to tap into their area of expertise.When I had proven my capabilities and built trust in my work, I was given the honour by the POLAD to brief the Commander and other high-ranking officers myself.
