The IB coordinator manages all administrative aspects of the DP as well as delivering pastoral care to IB students. It has the important role of guiding candidates in choosing the right combination of their subjects, mentoring them in being successful and curious inquirers, and supporting them with their Extended Essays. Together with the assistant, CAS and ToK coordinators and subject teachers, it is my job to deliver an effective DP course that would prepare our youngsters for the world of the future. Show less

Teacher of the IB course in Italian Literature, Italian ab initio and Theory of Knowledge, Spanish and French up to Key Stage 4, Latin, Spanish and French in the Junior School. I am a 5th Form tutor and I deliver PSHE lessons on a weekly basis. My students are enthusiastic learners. They have access to tailored resources, engaging activities and a caring but firm teaching style. They enjoy speaking the language in class and they feel confident in tackling exams, as they receive a meticulous preparation during their GCSE and IB courses.Lately, I have approached new learning styles following Gianfranco Conti and Dylan Viñales's studies on lexicogrammar approach. I am implementing my resources with sentence builders, renforcement of vocabulary and narrow reading to boost my students' confidence in being brave speakers in foreign languages. Show less

IB Assistant Coordinator

The assistant coordinator collaborates with the IB coordinator in the administration of the IB diploma as well as monitoring students' progress and making sure they have a good balance in their choices. As part of this role, I was also the Theory of Knowledge coordinator, a crucial part of the IB core that helps students question and reflect on the ways they acquire their knowledge. I organised a yearly trip to Oxford, where students applied TOK theories to real life.

CAS is part of the core of the IB diploma. Students have to undertake a series of experiences in the three strands of creativity, activity and service. They plan their programme independently under the guidance of the coordinator. As part of this role, I interviewed students several times over the two-year- course and I organised the introductory CAS Day off-site as well as delivering CAS lessons. I believe that CAS Day should be an outdoor event, which should not only inform students about CAS requirements, but also inspire them to get involved in projects that could be useful for their local communities.
