      Designing networks The first phase in the life cycle of a network involves creating its design. Designing a network involves making decisions about the type of network that best suits the needs of the organization. Setting up networks The second phase involves setting up and configuring the network. This involves setting up the hardware that makes up the physical part of the network and configuring the infrastructure such as servers, routers, switches, hosts, … Maintaining networks After the initial network is up and running, new host machines are added to the network. Some of my responsibilities include: Administration of network security Administering network services such as active directory, dns, dhcp, data storage,… Troubleshooting network problems Expanding the network When the network is in place and functioning properly, it is possible by expending the network population by adding new hosts and network services. The more the organization expands its features and services the more configurations might have to be done. In most cases the network will expand in a way it can’t operate efficiently. This is where new configurations on existing hardware have to be done or additional hardware, with its configurations comes in place. Other of my responsibilities include: Verify that peripherals are working properly; Quickly arrange repair for hardware in occasion of hardware failure; User administration (setup and maintaining account); Maintaining system; Monitor system performance; Update system as soon as new version of OS and application software comes out; Install software; Create file systems; Create a backup and recover policy; Password and identity management; Implement the policies for the use of the computer system and network; Setup security policies for users.
