Forum Phi opened in 2006 with the idea that we could design a more efficient building both environmentally and economically.Steev created a sustainable design concentration curriculum while studying at Syracuse University’s School of Architecture. While working in New York he had the opportunity to design institutional projects such as schools, libraries, colleges, and retirement facilities. He arrived in the Aspen area in 2004 and worked on designing high end custom residences, community design projects such as parks and employee housing, and multi-structure compound-style retreats for the rich and famous. During this time he continued to pursue sustainable architecture education becoming a LEED AP in 2005. In 2006 Steev became one of the two founding partners of Forum Phi, a firm with specialties in efficient, technical and thoughtful design. Since then Steev has designed custom residences for Forum Phi, many additions and remodels, historic projects in downtown Aspen, as well as modern sustainable homes. Steev and Christopher have created a community education program to inform the public of the importance, methodologies, and practices of sustainable design.
