Senior Design Developer
-
Feb 2022 - Present
Though a design role at heart, Design Development at Sprout is a technical discipline, requiring expert-level HTML/CSS skills and strong Javascript fundamentals. Design Developers use code to advocate for users, ensuring guidelines for usability, accessibility, and aesthetics are met at the component level. Design Developers build and maintain our pattern libraries and design system. They work side-by-side with Web Engineers, Web Designers, UX Designers, Visual Designers and Copywriters to build web pages and components in Sprout’s WordPress CMS, third-party tools and platforms. In this role, I contribute to testing, standardization, refactoring, and general improvement of web pages, components and processes. Among these contributions, I collaborate with Marketing teams to develop best practices for Digital Accessibility. As a Senior Design Developer, I am able to own technical decisions for systems and explain the high-level benefits and compromises of those decisions. I pair with, and mentor, designers and developers to foster true collaboration, empathy and understanding across the disciplines, contributing to code bases and design tools alike. I am responsible for expanding our Digital Accessibility practices, creating standards, documenting conformance, and holding the team accountable to maintaining them.

Apr 2018 - Apr 2022
I am dedicated to Compassionate Design principles for all of my work at Sprout Social. As a Product Designer, I approach problems with an Accessibility and Engineering mind. My deep empathy allows me to understand business requirements and objectives, and align them with end user needs and desires.I deliver anything needed, from high-concept wireframes, to functional UI prototypes written in React. Currently I am working with a small group of incredible designers on Sprout's Smart Inbox features. Additionally, I act as a Resource for all things Accessibility, from Design to Engineering. Over the past year and a half, I have started the Accessibility Guild at Sprout, and helped kick off company-wide inclusion initiatives.

My position at bswift allows me to have a wholistic approach to product and feature development. I help see the development lifecycle from the initial requirements analysis stage, creating world class user experience and interface/interaction designs, to ultimately coding the front end experience using the most modern web technologies. This position satisfies my passion for both visual design and software engineering! My position at bswift allows me to have a wholistic approach to product and feature development. During my time at ClearDrop, I helped facilitate a turning point for the company from solely configuring ERP Software solutions, to also creating custom front-end software for high profile companies using our ERP system. My duties included helping gather requirements, designing all aspects of the User Experience and Interface, and coding all of the front-end for our custom products. Working in an agile development environment, and using a MVC framework called "Enyo" gave me fantastic experience right out of college. Projects I worked on included tablet-first Point of Sale systems that double as a collaborative solution builder between customers and sales representatives for a high-end jewelry company, an agenda and shift scheduler for technicians, and an online appointment booking website for a national spa chain.

I worked at the Genius Bar assisting customers in getting answers to their technical or usability questions. I performed software and hardware troubleshooting, timely repairs and got customers up and running before they left. I also taught Personal Training sessions and delivered interactive public workshops. I help manage the Genius Bar through checking customers in, triaging, and matching technicians to certain issues based off of skill and availability. For many months, I participated in Phase 1 of Genius Training which allowed me to take both Mac and iOS appointments at the Genius Bar periodically for around four months. Lastly, I served as a technical resource for sales persons and trainers in other areas of the store.
