    • Operations Director
      • Jan 2006 - Dec 2010

Retail Operations Director of men’s concept stores, ladies boutiques and a corporate clothing division predominantly targeting the black market within KZN. Retail outlets across KZN and increased turnover with a GP improvement. Ensuring the full day to day retail operations of each of the retail outlets whilst negotiated exclusive distribution clauses with local menswear suppliers and developed trusting relationships with our imported ladies garments from factories in USA & Hong Kong. implementing lean retail management to optimize on garment availability with shorter leadtimes from suppliers and using pull techniques to drive stock replenishments in order to adjust to fashion trends quicker. reduced shrinkage of garments from 2% pa to 0.5% pa with increased security and tightened controls on each event which involved merchandise movements. In my position it was vital for me to have very good report with suppliers as well as understand our customers by ensuring on shelf availability. I was a hands-on person that worked from the ground up with proven skills in data analysis, strategic planning, budgeting, negotiating, training, motivation, coordination, and improving operations through policies that promoted a team-based work atmosphere, creative thinking and process enhancement. I ensured a positive result on the company’s bottom line. Provide overall direction and operational management to the stores ensuring an optimal customer experience. In 2011 we sold the men’s division due to changes in the local clothing industries and put more focus on the imported ladies market where we reduced turnover but realized greater margins which is still in business today.
