I was one of two field supervisors running the daily activities of the Electrical Maintenance department with 12 electricians. I attended a 6 week meter and relay course and even though I have little hands on experience with protective relays, became the primary supervisor for all relay tasks performed by 6 of those electricians as well as those outage tasks performed by the advanced contract M&R techs.I was recognized as a leader and sight expert in DC ground troubleshooting and Bridge crane troubleshooting. I was proficient at PowerPoint and highly skilled at using animations to present technical information in a graphical way. I performed Electrical Maintenance activities including work on various motors from fractional HP to 5500 HP, Westinghouse 480VAC and 125VDC motor controllers, 480V and 4KV Switchgear, 22KV Iso-Phase bus duct, Limitouque MOV's, 12 to 400VDC batteries & battery chargers, overhead bridge crane maintenance and troubleshooting, fuel handling platform maintenance, and GE 480V AK, as well as 4KV Magna Blast circuit breakers. I performed temporary protective grounding on circuits from 4KV to 345KV. I attained qualification in forklifts, aerial man-lifts, and bridge crane operation. Breaker maintenance, print reading, general troubleshooting and use of western Graphtec chart recorders were some of my strongest attributes. I taught the 3rd year electrical apprenticeship (night courses) for 2 seasons. The only reason I quit was because of course curricula changes made by the State in the 1986 season that I did not agree with, I finished the season but did not teach another after that.
