Bio
Rob Slade
Stan has, while maintaining a full load in information technology and security as a mature student at University of the Fraser Valley, not only participated and attended regularly at the Vancouver Security Special Interest Group, but has contributed as an active member of the executive. He also prepared and presented one of the major talks during the BCAware campaign for 2015. Stan is obviously an active and energetic worker, who is a self-starter, and works very well with others. I have no problem recommending Stan to any company lucky enough to hire him.

D3 Security provides an Incident Response and Case Management platform designed to help streamline remediation while providing exceptional reporting with the ability to track metrics such as root cause and corrective action. Internally, I help develop security related white papers and consult with the sales and marketing department on positioning our product within the incident response and case management market. I provide training and education on security best practices throughout our teams and help ensure a strong corporate security posture. From a product design perspective, I work with various teams including Implementation, QA, and Development on our integration with various SIEMs and ticketing systems. Further responsibilities include demoing our product to prospective clients through remote online meetings as well as onsite visits. I have enjoyed taking part in numerous trade show venues including RSA 2016, Enfuse 2016, Infosec London 2016, HPE Protect 2016, and Splunk Conf 2016. I also am actively involved in managing numerous clients throughout their project life cycles - preparing a project plan, gathering requirements, rolling out test environments through to production environments. Included in this work has been researching and developing incident response playbooks which get tailored to suit our clients needs. Show less

The presentation was part of the BC Aware Campaign for 2015. It educated people on how to tell if a wireless access point was comprised by a "Man in the Middle Attack". Two live demonstrations were included highlighting what information can be gathered and how this can be used to comprise a person's online credentials, such as email and social media accounts. This was done jointly with Scott Lukasek. Presentation was given a second time for the Vancouver Security Special Interest Group's April 10th, 2015 meeting. Show less

This was a technical call center position giving phone, instant chat, and email support to consumer and enterprise grade clients . Products supported HP Business/Consumer laptops, HP wireless routers, HP business desktops, and HP high end graphic workstations. An intimate knowledge of the products was required as support included trouble shooting and proving functionality both hardware and software as well as teaching and guiding end users with respect to product features. This experience provided a high level of technical and soft skills development. Show less

Night Leader
-
Aug 1996 - Dec 2002
During my time at earls, I held numerous positions: server, bartender, prep cook, line cook, shift leader, and night leader. I loved the fast pace, high pressure atmosphere and the great people I worked with. As a night leader I was responsible for 70% of the restaurants' revenue and managing a large staff, 100+ during peak times. Other day to day activities were interviewing and hiring new partners, training new partners, and ensuring proper food quality and safety. I was also responsible for helping build quarterly business plans and ensuring that the nigh business hit those goals. One aspect of this was New Customer Orientation Parties; these were guided tours of earls' philosophy on food and involved an hour long presentation with food for groups of 10 to 15 people. This job provided valuable expertise in customer service, work place communications, scheduling, mental organization, leadership and strategic business planning. Show less
