  toys for Elephants is a Course that the Mass College of Art offers that, allows students to work directly with the elephants at the ButtonWood Zoo (Emily and Ruth) and work together as a team to create toys that will better the quality of the elephants life. As part of the team, my responsibility is the overall R&D. working in the R&D Department requires me to: Take avid notes, Study the elephants from their species as a whole, to both Emily and Ruths specific needs/traits and with this knowledge make models and sketches of potential toys for them. I also got my hands dirty! when exciting my designs me and my team worked in the wood shop to fabricate our designs. Some Materials we have used: Wood (freshly cut at our mill), old tires, recycled fire hose! Show less

I really enjoyed seeing how different artist coped with difficult or stressful situations with their work or directors.
