As the Business Opportunities Manager, Staci will manage a library of resources for existing businesses and industries in Gainesville/Alachua County. An entrepreneur herself, Staci is available to answer questions ranging from starting a business (technology, retail, service, office, manufacturing etc.) to growing existing industries in our community. Also as a team member for the Council for Economic Outreach, the economic development arm of the Chamber, Staci works closely with key industry and businesses in Alachua County to develop a Business Information System designed to provide background on key opportunities and challenges for companies in Alachua County. Staci focuses on programs, grants and incentives that will encourage firms to stay and grow in our community. She also cultivates Investor Relations by providing outreach to CEO Investors on a regular basis, keeping major investors informed of activities and returns on investment and supports efforts to locate and attract new companies to Alachua County. As the Director of Florida Smart Kids, Staci managed an educational company with over 100 staff members tutoring over 700 students throughout 5 years. This program, led by Staci and her husband was designed to maximize reading improvement to students from low-income families who attend elementary schools with low performing grades. Florida Smart Kids strives to provide the most prescriptive instruction in reading to grades K-5. We provide high quality Supplemental Educational Services (SES) to students in the Free and Reduced lunch program who attend Title I schools that have not met Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) according to the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB). The mission of Florida Smart Kids is to provide students at all learning levels with individualized instruction through proven, research-based intervention methods and strategies that will allow each student to reach his/her highest potential in reading.
