At Graphical House we have worked with Stacey many times over the years on a wide variety of projects. Her skills, expertise, knowledge and intelligence are matched only by her enthusiasm, energy and charm. Stacey plays many roles for the design industry in Scotland. Advocate and ambassador. Curator and creator. Producer and promoter. She excels at them all and a great many beyond.

Local Heroes is a curatorial agency in Edinburgh led by Stacey Hunter. Local Heroes puts exceptional design from Scotland on an international stage, presenting and promoting Scottish products and industries to the public, with a focus on high quality design. Through exhibitions and events we provide unique opportunities for people to appreciate Scotland’s contemporary design landscape. 'We' are a small team of one, complemented and assisted by a network of independent designers, photographers and filmmakers based in Scotland. Through commissions, we support designers to develop exciting new work. And by underwriting the cost of materials, production or design time, we encourage playful and experimental approaches to new products which celebrate Scottish design and innovation. Local Heroes pioneers cross-sector partnerships uniting expertise in design, culture, cities, creativity, enterprise, entrepreneurship, travel and tourism. We enjoy working together with like-minded organisations and people to present Scottish design talent to the world. http://localheroes.design Show less

    • PhD (Architecture)
      • Sep 2009 - Jun 2015

My doctoral thesis in architecture is the first major review of Scotland's emergent New Urbanism (University of Edinburgh, 2015) and will be published in late 2015. Suburban sprawl is a significant challenge; the solution offered by the Congress of the New Urbanism involves neo-traditional town planning and architecture. I test New Urbanist masterplans against the Congress’ own aims, identifying the sociological and political consequences of urban plans and architectural typologies.

Scotland Can Make It! was an independent project to create a series of six souvenirs inspired by the London 2012 Olympic Games and the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games. Scotland Can Make It! presented an exciting public programme that was open to all. From 19 July – 3 August, seven sold-out events, across Glasgow and beyond, celebrated each souvenir, revealing stories, from the process of their making, to their lives as owned objects, their function and the memories they would create and evoke. Scotland Can Make It! was created and produced by Panel. Show less
