Stacey has been at the vanguard of youth development policy and practice in the Sacramento region for years. I had the pleasure of meeting her through advocacy efforts within the Alliance for Boys and Men of Color, a network which seeks to advance race and gender justice by transforming failed systems and institutions. During that time, she went from being a participant to taking on a leadership role to support, guide, and shepherd work in her region as well as statewide. As a member of the Alliance for Boys and Men of Color advisory committee she brings strategic insights grounded in research and practice that enhance our connection to work in her fields of education, social work, and youth development as well as in the community. She’s an invaluable leader in our movement for racial equity and gender justice with a tremendous track record in school systems change, community engagement, and trauma, healing, and learning. Her leadership has elevated every facet of our network and movement.

I founded the Race and Gender Equity Project in 2016 with a vision to create spaces that create change. Our mission is to harness the power of individual and collective transformation through healing, education, adovacy, and research. We do this through consulting, coaching and direct community work. Consulting: Using healing justice and social change frameworks that are rooted in racial and gender equity, we provide education, training, coaching, strategic planning, and evaluation services. Our participatory model will help you connect authentically with the communities you serve in order to truly make a long term, sustainable difference. Coaching: Our coaches provide executive leadership and life coaching, rooted in healing justice and social change. Our clients are most often change-makers of color navigating life and promoting equity; as well as white allies that want to incorporate anti-racist practices into their work. Working with us you can learn how to tap into your unique strengths, identify personal obstacles, effectively use your anger, address imposter syndrome, move courageously and engage in critical self-care. Community: We work alongside Black youth and community members to build capacity, share stories, change narratives and inspire leadership. We provide advocacy and support as you fight for social change. Our work is centered in the lived experiences of Black women and youth, and works towards the goals of equity, justice, freedom and liberation of all oppressed people.

As an Assistant Professor I taught courses related to race, class & gender studies and social work practice. I root my courses in Critical Race Theory and Black Feminist thought. In my classrooms, we explore opportunities for, and broadening our imaginations about, abolitionist social work practices and anti-racism work. This includes examining the racism and white supremacy culture embedded in our profession.

    • Adjunct Professor

As an adjunct professor, I began teaching SW 251: Advanced Policy in Spring 2017 semester. Per catalog entry, this course builds on the foundation content of SWRK 250 with deeper knowledge of diverse theoretical and practical approaches to policy analysis, development, implementation, and evaluation to empower communities and individuals, to advance and protect human rights, and to optimize social justice. I am most excited about using frameworks of Critical Race Theory and Intersectionality to unpack social work policy locally, nationally, and globally.

Co-authored with Ellyn Bell, this work has been a labor of love for several years. Race, class, gender, power -- all collide when discussing the issue of sexual exploitation at an early age and its effects in later life. Human trafficking is a subject many are discussing, but the intricacies and connections to other issues such are often missed. This work is a collection of academic rants, mythical and poetic stories and collective female narratives. All come together as a healing balm for women traveling their own healing journey, and a road map of sorts for those who love and support women survivors.
