We conducted assurance engagements that span the entire organisation as well as executed ad-hoc assurance engagements at the request of various stakeholders. This required in-depth research and knowledge of a broad range of processes as well as drawing upon a large collection of structured and unstructured data sources in order to develop and express a persuasive opinion. Example assurance areas include financial performance, contract management, logistics processes, legal and regulatory compliance, human resource engagement, cyber security, software development practices, IT operations, system implementations & interfaces, data migrations & application controls. I determined the audit plan, managed the execution of engagements and supported and challenged the team, including our external consultants, to provide valuable and insightful opinions. I prepared the quarterly Internal Audit and Strategic Risk Management reports for the Audit Committee and attended the quarterly Committee meetings in my function as Secretary to the Committee. During my tenure leading this function I: • introduced structured data analysis audits; • increased business-requested GIA involvement by a factor of 3; • applied Scrum to Internal Audit practices; • developed and operationalised a site review self-assessment questionnaire system; • launched a guest auditor programme; and • brought structure and reliability to documentation.
