Our core focus is on analyzing, designing, building, and operating Bitcoin mines behind the meter of underperforming renewable energy assets within owners' portfolios. Our approach applies to either existing sites or projects in the development pipeline. Bitcoin mining creates the possibility of selling energy into a new frontier that can be arbitraged with conventional merchant energy sales. Where there is market fit, we create additional value through software that allows us to dimension the Bitcoin mine to allow for the transferability of electrons between the mine and the energy market. We also capture and monetize the waste heat generated by the mining process by routing it to environments like greenhouses and breweries that have high thermal energy demand. Beginning in the summer of 2019, we controlled, designed, and built a Bitcoin mining facility at a former steel mill in Central Illinois with an 82 megawatt substation and electricity under 4 cents per kilowatt hour. We successfully sold that project in the summer of 2022. This project - Hennepin - is where we cut our teeth. Show less
