Director of an organisation with over $22 million worth of assets and $12 million in revenue, working 20 hours per week alongside my studies. My role largely focussed on engaging students through events and communications. This extended to providing a student lense to various University of Canterbury initiatives. Outside of my specific duties, I developed governance skills through attending both executive and advisory board meetings. Key wins throughout my tenure:1. Introduced and facilitated a weekly video update from the executive. 2. Awarded $90,000 worth of grants to our 161 clubs on campus. Alongside preparing a report on the varying support faculties provide to their respective clubs. 3. Organised two new events specifically for Māori and Pasifika students.4. Worked closely with the Events and Communications team to design some awesome executive merch, review the UCSA website and promote the UCSA elections. 5. Part of the working group to develop a new testamur for the university. 6. Initiated Safety Week; a week of activations to promote safety on campus. Events included Glow in the Dark Yoga followed by a talk from UC Security, Self Defence classes, Student First Aid and Coffee with a Cop. 7. Elected by the President and CE to attend the Aspiring leaders Forum Conference. 8. Workshopping different executive structures to ensure we maximise our potential as an executive and are representative of all students.9. Collaborated with charities; Adopt a Student and Lads Without Labels to put on an event about resilience with TedX speaker Michael Hempseed. 10. Working with the University of Canterbury to provide student feedback on how to improve Work Integrated Learning for students. Show less

    • Migrant Legal Clinic Intern
      • Apr 2022 - Oct 2022

The Migrant Legal Clinic provides free legal services to migrants. I interviewed clients with a range of legal matters and discussed these with a lawyer. Using MBIE employment module content I collaboratively developed an interactive webinar for migrant employers highlighting their obligations as an employer. These workshops were funded by MBIE as a result of a submission I collaboratively developed and submitted through the Migrant Exploitation and Modern Slavery Bill. I prepared a research report on the adequacy of legal aid for small business owners in NZ and assisted with the recruitment of new interns. Show less
