I was lucky enough to meet and work with Sophie at Weird Fish. A extremely dedicated and brand focused designer, leading in product conception to development. Fully understanding of business pressures and able to cope with them with ease. Sophie brought a fantastic positive can do energy to the design team during a difficult time for the brand. Able to deliver top line presentations to key stakeholders within the business, all with her trademark positive personality. On a creative level Sophie drove knitwear within womenswear creating garments that became key bestsellers for the brand. Positively impacting the business with her design handwriting across other key areas of Womenswear and Childrenswear.

Multi-product design role; currently responsible for the design and development of the womenswear range across all product categories.Working in a fast-paced, small design team has enabled me to have complete ownership of my designs from start to finish. It has also given me the opportunity to take on more responsibility and broaden my design skills to include menswear, childrenswear, print and graphic design. - Manage critical path from initial concept through to production, co-ordinating overlapping wholesale and retail seasons (including additional SMU ranges for key accounts such as Go Outdoors and Blacks). - Conduct extensive inspirational, colour, trend and competitor research. Produce and present informative reports where required. - Create themes/concepts for each season and develop mood, colour, print and graphic inspiration boards.- Use Adobe Illustrator to draw and render technical CAD sketches plus supporting print/graphics/knitwear patterns/embroidery and trim/packaging artworks where required. - Work closely with the buying, merchandising and marketing teams to ensure that all key product and pricing requirements are met, and in-line with company targets. - Design within commercial constraints whilst ensuring the development of garment details, trims, finishes and fabric washes remain on trend and in keeping with the brand’s ‘lifestyle’ attributes. - Confident and practised in giving professional product presentations to sales managers, top management, Company Directors and the Board of Investors. Lead and present the new ranges to the sales team at the collection launch presentation. - Attend and lead fit sessions, working closely with garment technicians. - Maintain robust working relationships with all suppliers and have detailed understanding of their capabilities through factory visits within Europe and the Far East. Creative and technical development, covering all elements from design sketch to production release. Ability to communicate clearly and work collaboratively in an international office with many teams and interfaces including designers, production management, vendors, suppliers, sales and brand management. Researched and developed knitted structures and sourced yarns to meet design briefs. Extended my knowledge of knitted structures and programming for STOLL and SHIMA SEIKI machines. Show less

Highly creative, fast-paced knitting swatch-studio placement, producing a broad range of designs for the main studio collection and swatches for the trend forum at SPINEXPO in New York and Shanghai. Worked with colour, pattern, stitch and yarn combinations using a range of gauges on Dubied and Domestic machines. Multi-tasking was key, as projects varied from swatch-knitting, knitting accessory/novelty products, and trend design work. Increased commercial awareness as I designed womenswear, menswear, childrens collections and novelty items. Show less
