      • Mar 2021 - May 2021

I completed my 12-week internship with Think Pacific where had the opportunity to learn about the Fijian culture and Fiji's sustainable development plan. I completed this internship as a part of the Bachelor of Speech Pathology (Hons) program at University of Newcastle. I undertook an 'International Speech Pathology' course as a part of my honours program to develop skills in working with culturally and linguistically diverse clients. For this internship, I completed an action project for the Ministry of Education where I created resources targeting the development of children aged 3-5 years old with inclusive options for children with disabilities. The activities had to contribute to the development of communication, behaviour, fine and gross motor skills. I was able to combine my knowledge as a Speech Pathology student with my newfound understanding of the Fijian culture and education needs. The hope is that the resources created will contribute to the lives of the students and teachers in Fiji. Throughout this internship I gained skills of: project management and working with both individuals and large organisation towards a common goal.
