• worked in a nanotechnology lab and contributed to the research of β-hairpin proteins and their toxicity to cancer cells through my work in the lab. I prepared and performed the experiments involving this protein. At the summer student poster day, I created a poster presentation displaying my data and its implications • Lab duties: performing experiments at the lab bench and under the chemical hood including cell plating/splitting, phosphate assays, preparing chemical solutions, sizing molecules, creating lipid films, running the fraction collector, using a plate reader to determine fluorescence, collecting and analyzing data • Worked with Excel in creating comprehensive data display and performed statistical calculations to further analyze data I learned how to operate a variety of laboratory equipment including: • the fraction collector, • the rota-evaporator, • the zeta-sizer, • the extruder, and specific lab techniques such as: • cell plating/splitting, • phosphate assays, • and the mixing and preparing of various solutions.
