This experience was incredible, working with a small team of artistic professionals this job gave me an insight into what it is like working for a beautiful modern gallery. From this, I wrote a short essay on Anthropocene, a term coined by Paul Crutzen in 2000 to ‘denote the present time interval, in which many geologically significant conditions and processes are profoundly altered by human activities.’ This experience was incredible, working with a small team of artistic professionals this job gave me an insight into what it is like working for a beautiful modern gallery. As one of nine interns working at the London Art Fair, my job was centred around helping Art UK, an online charity displaying all UK’s public art, whilst being involved with the welcome desk, the VIP desk and ensuring all the galleries had all they needed. This experience gave me in depth knowledge as to the way such large events are run, and I have acquired many contacts with artists and gallery owners. Being able to discuss my future desire to work in an art gallery with such a wide range of people and to gain insight from them all has confirmed what I aim to do after graduating. Show less

Working in a space that allowed me to explore and voice personal opinions was something that pushed me to flourish during this week. For example, I was able to engage with clients directly, giving them advice and practical assistance. A highlight was hand delivering an art work to a long standing client and really understanding, how important personal touches are. Over my week at this London based gallery I helped curate an exhibition for Arturo Di Stefano, build personal relationships with clients and work one to one with the gallery owners. Most importantly, I was able to learn how to sell works to clients, and be successful! Show less

As my first experience of working in New York, this week was nerve wracking but thrilling. Every person at The Morgan was organised, welcoming and genuine, allowing my experience to flourish. The most fascinating part of this experience was becoming more involved in how conservation works. As my first insight into the chemical processes and professional techniques used in conservation, the Morgan was an exceptional place to start. I learnt the importance of creating a space that incorporated literature and art without the focus of needing to sell anything. Most memorably, Jennifer, the curator of drawings and prints, put an upcoming presentation into my hands. Researching and piecing together ideas on picture faker Eric Hebborn allowed me to see what type of work such a renowned curator would do. Show less

This was an incredible course, teaching us the ropes of becoming chalet chefs. This course is something I use every day, from preparation of food to cleanliness in the kitchen. Leaving with a brilliant cook book is was such a bonus as well. This was an incredible course, teaching us the ropes of becoming chalet chefs.
