This role involved engaging with small to medium enterprises and providing a range of waste assessments, recommendations, and assistance to reduce landfill and reach the state’s targets of 75% recycling. My role was diverse as I also provided support to the Auditing and Planning teams, assisting on council audits, developing project proposals, and assisting with the writing of reports and grants for clients as required. During this role I coordinated the Ryde B & B Highway, a project aimed at increasing biodiversity within urban areas. I facilitated various workshops for students and community groups, collaborating with researchers, and managing project timelines and budgets. I presented our project at various networking events and secured funding through a pitch event at Macquarie University. Amongst other responsibilities, I was required to plan volunteer events, where we would facilitate garden builds with parents and students or corporate volunteer groups. Project Researcher

I commenced my work with planting Seeds as a Project Researcher, looking at international examples of sustainable development concepts such as roof top gardens. I began researching native bees, their habitats and the larger issue of insect decline. Our research of pollination, sustainable agriculture and urban planning led to the development of the B & B Highway which now spans across multiple LGA's of Sydney.

Working at two locations for the same company allowed me to understand the complexity and difficulties of running large chain stores. During my time at Optimal Pharmacy Plus in Lane Cove, I implemented various Terracycle projects for the customers as Lane Cove has a strong focus on environmental sustainability. We assisted customers with recycling beauty products, hair care products, contact lenses and oral care products. Here my focus was customer service and establishing connections with our regular customers as they trusted us with their health needs. I enjoyed providing health care to the lovely residents of Lane Cove, and was appreciative that I was given the freedom to implement some of my own passions into the business. Show less
