Teacher and Dept Head (Modern Foreign Languages)
-
Sep 2013 - Aug 2015
At PSII, I planned, taught and assessed Core French and French Immersion courses to learners in grades 9-12. I co-constructed personalized learning plans, using an interdisciplinary, inquiry-based approach. I also taught and assessed a variety of other courses, including Foods and Nutrition, HACE, Planning, Social Studies 9-11, English 9-12, and Visual Arts. I oversaw and developed the languages program over the two years. I was also instrumental in improving operations by writing in-house language curriculum documents, detailing our approach to assessment and creating a protocol for visiting learners. Show less

High School French Teacher and Faculty Mentorship Coordinator

Sep 2009 - Aug 2013
At St. Michaels University School, I taught Core French to grades 9 through to 11, both the regular and advanced streams. I was responsible for the pastoral care of a group of homeroom students. In the third term, I taught intensive French course to students participating in the Experiential Program in the third term. Finally, I organized extra-curricular activities within the Modern Languages Department that help promote language learning, and enrich students’ experience of learning languages (Concours d’Art Oratoire, for example). I ran the SMUS mentorship program across 3 campuses (Junior, Middle and Senior School). This leadership role required both strong organizational and interpersonal skills. This role involved facilitating several workshops, monitoring progress and providing feedback to participants (approximately 50) and to the directors of the school. It also included the updating and re-writing sections of the mentorship program guidelines. This role was in addition to my regular teaching assignment and responsibilities. Show less
