I lead exploratory interviews and record customer responses in detail. My insights are used directly to inform the design of a new AI tool. I also record notes for usability tests. I am currently designing and developing a new compaign aimed at recruiting clinical researchers to identify how the AI tool that we are developing may resolve some of the pain points that they experience in their data analysis process.

Remote As an Investment Analyst intern, I used the Resultid platform to analyze the commercial viability of 6 life and physical science research proposals for the NC State Chancellor’s Innovation Fund. I rated each proposal based on factors like similarity to other research, patent trends, grant trends, market information like the CAGR, and existing competition within the space. I rated each proposal based on factors like similarity to other research, patent trends, grant trends, market information like the CAGR, and existing competition within the space. I evaluated the feasibility of the project, significance, and the likelihood that a proposed biotechnology would be ready for licensing. I provided the inventor(s) with valuable insight regarding potential commercialization partners and other applications of their proposed invention that they may not have originally considered. I was also responsible for communciating any bugs and issues with the plaform directly to NLP software developers, so that they could be fixed accordingly.

Chapel Hill, North Carolina, United States I mastered molecular biology and biochemical techniques like bacterial transformation, protein expression, and purification. I worked with a wide variety of proteins including an intrinsically disordered protein unique to tardigrades called cytosolic-abundant heat soluble protein (CAHS) D, as well as the domain swapping, homodimerizing variant of the immunoglobulin binding domain B1 of streptococcal protein G (GB1 DSD) that was essential to my project. I also learned how to quantify protein… Show more I mastered molecular biology and biochemical techniques like bacterial transformation, protein expression, and purification. I also learned how to quantify protein concentration with multiple methods like the Bradford Assay, absorbance at 280 nm using a NanoDrop instrument, and band intensity on an SDS-PAGE gel. With these techniques, I began my independent project using 19F NMR spectroscopy to study the effects of various sugar-based polymer solutions on the stability of GB1 DSD. I discovered that sugar polymers dextran and Ficoll, and their monomers, assumed inert crowding agents, exhibit a measurable enthalpic contribution to dimerization. This enthalpic contribution was neglected by classic crowding theory, highlighting the necessity of a new model for crowding. My findings are currently being used in collaboration with Dr. Daniel Harries’ lab to inform such a model so that we can better predict how polymers stabilize protein-based drugs, how different biological molecules impact protein stability in cells and design even more useful stabilizing agents. I received $4,000 in funding from the Matthew Neely Jackson Undergraduate Research Award to complete this project and successfully defended my Honors Thesis. Show less
