During my time working for the Shippensburg University library, I served as the only technical assistant in the administration office. I completed various projects including re-organizing the library's collection of maps, checking the accuracy of the information on research databases, and adding content notes to the library database for new pieces of literature. During my semester studying abroad in South America, I had the incredible opportunity to complete a service learning project with CODEFF, the oldest environmental NGO in Chile. Their work focuses on environmental protection and sustainability within Chile through civic engagement and environmental education. I was given the responsibility of researching CODEFF and their various partners and projects in order to analyze the effectiveness of those partnerships and how CODEFF performs at an… Show more During my semester studying abroad in South America, I had the incredible opportunity to complete a service learning project with CODEFF, the oldest environmental NGO in Chile. The project resulted in a literature review regarding Community-Based Participatory Research and a final presentation on my research with CODEFF. Having been my first formal work experience, JC Penney allowed me the opportunity to learn time management, accountability, teamwork, and customer service skills. In an often fast-paced and chaotic environment, I maintained a positive attitude while providing product recommendations, up-selling credit-cards through a no-pressure check-out experience, and keeping my station as well as the product displays tidy and organized at all times.
