Bio
Anna Link
Sonya and I have worked together for over two years now and I can confidently say that I have been able to grow as a publicist (and employee in general) due to her guidance, mentorship, and overall support. She is adept at conveying years of experience to more junior staff, and goes out of her way to create opportunities for others to grow. In addition to consistently generating national media attention for her own authors, Sonya always has a pulse on our backlist and creative ideas to holistically promote HUP. Sonya is an incredible colleague and I am grateful to work with and learn from her.
LinkedIn User
Sonya is especially skilled at identifying media opportunities for books and translating those back to press staff and authors in ways both can act on. In an area of publishing where expectations, on the part of editor and author, are vast and the media landscape shifting, sometimes hourly, Sonya is able to maintain focus on both the lower-hanging media hits that sell copies and the breakout chances that transform a book's reception. It is an approach that I have witnessed time and again make the difference in a book’s publication.

As head of PR for Plated, I helped shape and grow the position while juggling a variety of fast-paced projects and campaigns across all marketing channels. With a focus on consumer press, I implemented a year-long communications strategy, resulting in national coverage that helped solidify the company's reputation as a thought leader in the cook-at-home delivery space. Working closely with Plated's co-founders and founding chef, I pitched, booked and prepped lifestyle and business segments, and worked with a wide range of media to help get the right messages across to the right audiences. I also led and executed Plated's events and several partnerships, planning and implementing co-branded media and influencer dinners and programming for a high-profile, cross-country experiential marketing campaign. I worked on fiction and non-fiction titles across all imprints and under various team leaders. I pitched and booked national and local TV, radio, print and online coverage for bestselling books including SALT SUGAR FAT by Pulitzer Prize-winning New York Times reporter Michael Moss, STICKS AND STONES by Slate editor Emily Bazelon, and CRIMINAL by thriller writer Karin Slaughter. In addition to securing and facilitating top media coverage, I planned and executed author tours, events, and appearances at festivals and conferences. I created all press kit materials which included press releases, author Q&As, and pitch letters. I cultivated and sustained great relationships with top bloggers and web editors to facilitate online media placements while connecting with consumers directly via Twitter and Facebook (and Instagram, Pinterest, Google+, Foursquare).
