Sonja is an incredible asset to an organisation. She is a smart and pragmatic global research head who commands a deep knowledge of financial services, policy environments, and inclusion, alongside her highly developed research tradecraft. Moreover, she is a huge benefit for organisational culture, helping to recruit, develop and bind globally dispersed teams together through strategic planning and effective communication. Her leadership style is inclusive and situational, without shying away from tough conversations and decisions. I learned a lot from Sonja and would welcome the opportunity to work with her again.

I had the opportunity to work with Sonja during my tenure as a Program Associate in American University's University College program. As research advisers, Sonja and I were responsible for mentoring and guiding groups of freshman through the entire research process from idea conception to delivery of either a multimedia project or formal academic paper. It was during these discussions with students that I was able to see not only how invested Sonja was in our students' success but also her extensive knowledge in research methods from both a qualitative and quantitative perspective.Sonja was able to recommend and guide students on how best to use methods to accomplish their research questions as well as helping to translate some of the more complex subtleties of these methods to students at the freshman level. Furthermore, as a result of our guidance and slight nudging, one student group was able to present their research at two academic conferences that are typically reserved for students at the junior and senior year level. In regards to any project that requires research design, project implementation, or carrying out fieldwork, I would fully put my support behind her being an outstanding candidate.
