Sonja is a true talent. I've had the pleasure of working with Sonja both in the same organisation and on shared projects as a consultant. Her passion for her work is a delight and I was particularly impressed with her knowledge on Audiology and engaging public speaking abilities. I have experienced that Sonja always contributes positively to projects and adds true value, with a smile!

I’ve been working with Sonja for a little over year now and I have to say as an editor of a paddling magazine, with many deadlines, contributors and the many stresses this brings, Sonja is like a breath of fresh air. She is so enthusiastic and knowledgable about the subject matter and always has her material ready on time – no chasing, no faffing around and so pleasant to deal with. Throughout the year, Sonja has supplied a wide-ranging amount of material for the Paddler and its readership, including her own battle with illness and how she overcomes the challenges through the sport of paddling through to her perspective/observations on wildlife and how that affects the river systems that she holds so dear. I only wish we could bottle the determination and enthusiasm that Sonja portrays as we would all make a fortune but a close second is to read what she offers and take from that what we will. Thank you Sonja for being such a wonderful contributor and very much look forward to the next 12 months. Peter Tranter Editor of the Paddler ezine and PaddlerUK magazines

Non Executive Board Director of Safeguarding and Inclusion
-
Jun 2016 - Nov 2019
In June 2016 I was appointed Director of Safeguarding and Inclusion. Safeguarding: Working as a Paediatric Audiologist as well as volunteer play worker has enabled me to witness and be involved in vital safeguarding work. It is my intention to streamline and develop our Safeguarding processes to be as impactful as possible, ensuring all children and vulnerable adults are safe whilst partaking in the sport. Inclusion: With my background of working with those with communication disorders and a range of complex needs, in addition to my personal use of paddling as a form of rehabilitation due to a neurological disorder (check out my blog www.paddlehigh5.wordpress.com), I have developed a passion for driving the sport of canoeing forward so that all, no matter background or ability can get involved. Apr 2016 - Apr 2017
On a freelance basis I created and delivered bespoke training packages to both internal staff and external clients, on behalf of Widex UK and Ireland pertaining to clinical Audiology. I provided coaching and mentoring to new sales staff. Laughter is at the very heart of everything that I do as I believe no matter your age, the most memorable lessons are the fun ones. From 1:1 sessions right up to large group seminars and lectures, my ethos is to ensure training is interactive, creative, and of course...fun! I delivered training across a range of subjects, for example: Real Ear Measurement Managing Patient Expectations and Acclimatisation (and securing sales!) Tinnitus Paediatric Audiology Hearing Aid Fitting and Technology Effective History Taking The Physiology of hearing for the beginner Hearing Loss Awareness Hearing Instrument Selection - a basic guide Show less

Regional Account Manager and Campaigns

Oct 2010 - Apr 2013
Campaigns: I identified campaigns and worked on lead generation strategies utilising multi-channel marketing strategies, working along-side a range of internal and external stakeholders. I conceived and launched Starkey’s first in-house Tinnitus Awareness Day (Feb. ‘13) in conjunction with the British Tinnitus Association (BTA). I had a minimal budget thus promoted it by; press release, social media, radio interviews, the BTA, and networking at local Deaf Societies. Television: I created the concept and wrote the treatment for Starkey’s first television advert, which appeared on the Yesterday Channel in 2013. Sales & Training: I contributed to increasing the market share of the company in a designated territory through; technical product training to both the private and public sectors, sales support for existing customers and development of new relationships through providing businesses with tools to increase their outreach and profitability. Relationships: I represented Starkey at product launches, conferences and academic institutions, developing close working relationships with academics, students, audiologists and purchasers Show less
