Sonia is a self-driven and pro-active young lady that eagerly embraces challenges. Having worked with her for 2 months, she has demonstrated that she has a keen mind and resourceful in undertaking projects and running with it herself with little to no hand holding. The best thing in working with her is her can-do attitude which is an increasing rare trait in today’s marketplace. I heartily recommend her to anyone who appreciates the ability in doing more, talking less.

Within this job I do event staffing and hospitality catering for a variety of venues in and around London. This job includes plate waiting, wine waiting, bartending, team leading, cashier work and many more. As a legal intern, I learnt and conducted a range of tasks relating to different areas of the law. I organised and allocated numerous business as well as health and safety templates into a library filing system. I proof read contract agreements to identify errors, do spell checks and learnt the significance of explicit and implicit wording. Additionally, I discovered the difference between terms of sale and terms of use within a business and gained a better understanding of the meanings behind “B2B, B2C and B2G” along with Licensor, Licensee, Buyer and Seller, and how they are applied in an agreement. I read through cease and desist letters and formed responses by maintaining structure and being professional and discreet. I also had the time to learn and write a fully completed terms and conditions agreement relating to sales, payment and delivery for a company. I communicated with parties to gather crucial information and details. In addition, I learnt and formed: a fixed term employment contract and filled in a contract agreement involving four parties by adding their personal details, a terms and conditions template relating to the PDPA/C (Singapore) using the UK GDPR as a comparison, a disclaimer/terms template relating to parody, and a terms of sale document. I discovered how the process of suing a company works and the exchange of emails between a client and lawyer. I also had the opportunity to respond to emails from a lawyer working for the firm Lee & Lee by providing evidence of sales figures to confirm that there were false statements and inaccuracies given from the opposing parties in the suing procedure. Throughout this internship I also conducted non-law related tasks such as going over risk assessment audits for Fredrik Marine, summarising a transcript template, formed an Accident Reporting form and sat through meetings regarding strategic planning for 2022. I also had the chance to interview two future potential interns for Fredrik Marine.

This virtual internship involved partners from the law firms: Clyde & Co, Slaughter and May, Ashurst and Sidley; that actively engaged in discussions and assigned interns like myself to various law-related tasks.Such tasks involved problem solving, drafting, identifying ambiguous terms in sentences, negotiation, forming written responses to workshop scenarios and offering legal advice. The areas of law covered for such tasks involved corporate litigation, arbitration, mediation, mergers & acquisitions transactions, international banking, international arbitration and environmental social governance. This experience gave me the opportunity to enhance my legal thinking skills along with my commercial awareness.

This internship involved virtual interactive sessions with numerous employees that represented the companies: Cooley, Fried Frank, Reed Smith, Addleshaw Goddard, JP Morgan, Bank of America, Mayer Brown, NBC Universal and many more. The group tasks conducted were answering problem questions, sending across our group’s input into a document along with case reading and analysis. The focus of this internship supported Diversity awareness and involved amazing speakers sharing their personal experiences that provided insight and inspiration for young individuals like myself that will be entering the professional working world.

I participated in a group competition where the best performance would receive money as the prize to give to charities which supported elderly individuals who suffered from disabilities such as autism and schizophrenia. I was elected as the team leader and had been praised for showing efficient conduct, leadership, coaching and communications skills. I learnt that making a difference by helping others is incredibly rewarding for me as I feel joy knowing that my actions or work have contributed to the betterment of another individual’s life.
