Sonia Cortés has extensive experience in major collective restructuring plans, senior executive agreements and board room disputes, employment aspects of M&A transactions, outsourcing, collective bargaining, and employment litigation, including harassment, discrimination and employer liability for lack of health and safety measures. She regularly handles cross-border employment matters and has extensive experience in advising foreign multinationals. Ms. Cortés is co-author of the book “The Workers Statute, Remarks and Case law” (8th Edition, La Ley, 2007) and “The New Statute for Self Employed (1st edition, Lex Nova, 2008) and author of the Spanish Chapter of the book “Restrictive Covenants and Trade Secrets in Employment Law. An International Survey”, Volume I-ABA (2011); and the Spanish Chapter of “Guide to International Employment and Labour Law”, Littler Mendelson (2009-2010). She is also author of several other legal publications such as "The Spanish Supreme Court widens the interpretation of Transfer of Undertakings" (Employment and Industrial Relations Law, IBA Legal Practice Division, September 2005) and "Implications of managers' appointment to the board" (Abogacía & Empresa, May 2005). Sonia is a lecturer on employment law at the University of business administration and Law (ESADE). She is a regular speaker at international employment law forums and has contributed to a good number of publications on Spanish employment law, such as “Remarks to the Workers Statute” (2007-2011) and “The new Dependent Self Employed Statute” (2008).
