  WEST BENGAL POLLUTION CONTROL BOARD It is a statutory authority entrusted to implement environmental laws and rules within the jurisdiction of the state of West Bengal, India. Website: www.wbpcb.gov.in Current position is Senior Environmental Engineer and working in WBPCB since Jan’83 to till date. I handle all environmental engineering functions of the unit including pollution control & monitoring and industrial waste management. I supervise performance of four Regional Offices (Durgapur, Asansol, Hooghly and Barrackpore) of the organization covering seven districts that carry about fifteen thousand (15,000) industries. I am responsible for implementing policies, guidelines and procedures to establish and operate industrial and other projects for maintaining high quality standards of environment parameters as per standards. I am responsible for conceptualizing comprehensive environmental pollution action plans for the industrial for the critically polluted areas. I formulate monitoring program and perform fugitive emission and ambient air quality monitoring around industrial clusters. I conduct public hearing for environmental clearance of proposed projects as per the direction of the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change, Government of India. I deliver lectures in regard to environmental safety in corporate institutions & academic institutions. I perform field visits to various industries for checking their environmental management process. I prepare technical reports covering various technical analysis & environmental research findings. I initiate regulatory actions for non compliance of the statutory norms and guidelines by the industries. I am applauded for implantation of air & water pollution control devices and industrial solid waste disposal devices across 100 industries in West Bengal through regular inspection & monitoring.
