I work as part of a team to enable the running of class. Within this capacity, I must use my communication skills to liaise with parents. I must also show great patience - especially when dealing with stubborn children who refuse to work. A large part of my job is also helping higher-level Maths students, teaching them particular methods and correcting mistakes. My job is to make learning fun, and to make the education space fulfilling and enjoyable for students enrolling!

As part of Young Enterprise, I helped to create the company MiTech. Our aims were primarily to reduce stigma around the topic of the LGBTQ+ community within school curriculums. We felt that, during the stage in which children first begin to form opinions of the wider world (ages 7-10), not enough was being done in the school sphere to teach them about topics such as LGBTQ+, disabilities and racism. To combat this, we developed a storytelling app called MiStory to educate primary school age children about such things through the medium of interactive online children's storybooks with strong morals interwoven with the plot. In my role as Managing Director, I had to show leadership skills, assertiveness, and quick-thinking. I was required to make big decisions in short spaces of time, whilst under large amounts of pressure. Additionally, I had to co-ordinate the group, delegate tasks, and use my excellent teamwork skills to ensure that there was harmony within the workplace. In this way, our Young Enterprise team was able to excel, and we made it through three competition rounds whilst winning various awards for Innovation along the way. Show less
