◈ Develop the navigation and autonomous docking system of a social mobile robot Given differential wheel robot with no navigation implemented, developed robot that can navigate to each room and perform automatic docking based on schedule. Successfully tested at three houses for 1 month duration. • SLAM and navigation using ROS. Customise algorithms and tune parameters of numerous opensource packages to improve accuracy and fit the hardware. • Familiarity with LiDAR (Rplidar, Hokuyo), IMU, depth cameras (Astra, Realsense) and their APIs for sensor integration • Created automatic docking package using ROS actionlib and State machine design. Filter unstable IR sensor reading for improved performance. Accuracy of 3 failures out of 300 test runs. • Write bash scripts and manuals for installation. Create technical documents and keep source code and manuals up to date using Git. • Using joystick ROS driver, create program that allows non-developers to draw map, save locations for robot navigation with only joystick manipulation. • Migration from Kinetic to Noetic for previously maintained packages. • Familiarity with Linux 16.04 and 20.04 environment. Experience working with NUC PC and Khadas Vim3. ◈ Improve and maintain dementia prevention social robot. • Solved long-term issues causing inaccurate robot and human detection (occurred infrequently) by adding continuous robot position check algorithm and improving pointcloud segmentation (PCL library). • Using Nuitrack (skeleton detection) API, developed program that acquires users’ motion and use the output for motion games for dementia prevention classes. ◈ Working with hardware engineers, conduct integration tests and deploy robots to customers’ houses. Map customer's house and check the performance after the installation. ◈ Demonstrate newly developed robot to potential partners at the biggest robotics exhibition in South Korea.
