Sayan is a very close friend of mine. We have lots of similarities e.g., we both love science and mathematics. Often we give each other different kinds of interesting problems (e.g., mathematical problems or puzzles) for fun. We also discuss each other works very often. Although I don't have enough background knowledge to understand his work fully, he has a special ability to break down the technical stuff in such a way that I can get a sufficient idea (not only on a superficial level but also on a technical level) about his work. He also understands my area to work (Micro- and Nanotechnology) very well. However, we also have differences in different sections such as politics, philosophy, music, etc. The best thing about Sayan is that he respects our differences and does not try to force his ideology on me. I am sure that he will be very successful in his career. I wish him the very best in his personal and professional life.

      Deep Unfoldings of ISTA with respect to Ultrasound NDT. Machine Learning has shown promising results in the field of general purpose Compressive sensing and sparse deconvolution problems. One of the challenges in the deployment of Deep learning models is that it suffers from Interpretation. The approach investigated tries to look through the lens of interpretation of the models. Involves the Unrolling of the ISTA Algorithm which is widely used to solve Sparse Inverse problems and implement it using a Neural network that learns the hyper-parameters, which have interpretation in Ultrasound NDT problems where we try to find out defects in a crystal / steel in a non-destructive fashion with robustness. Additionally, we decreased the training time for the network (Learning ISTA) to obtain our model parameters. Tasks involved an implementation in tensorflow and use other Python libraries to solve the problems to develop a robust model to appropriately measure errors in the substance under test. Show less
