I was the primary light, motion, and animation engineer on the sculpture RadiaLumia and am currently developing custom addressable LED animation software to aid the collective in developing future sculptures. This work has involved translating art direction into procedural systems for animating motors and leds, building the systems that animate our sculptures, and developing low level systems which enable designers to build such animations without code. From designing games to get middle school students excited about STEM fields, to improving medical compliance, I have applied game design to fields far and wide. Incorporating game design into other fields requires more than just a knowledge of games, but also an understanding of what kinds of games work for certain applications, and when game elements would actually detract from the purpose of the experience.More than just designing experiences, part of my role has been to quickly build out and test the design hypothesis of design teams. I prioritize building prototypes with a 'rough, rapid and right' mentality to get answers to design and research questions more quickly, and in the context of an actual product or experience. I have worked on small agile teams both as a core contributor as a game designer and prototyper, as well as lead teams in similar contexts. Show less

As a Game Designer, my role was to embed with project teams as a core member and inform project work through games research, iterative design and prototyping, and playtesting. Unlike working solely on games however, this role necessitates applying those skills to products, services, and even the design of businesses which have little to do with traditional games.During this time, I began work on the Verizon Explorer Lab which would carry though the next several years.
