This role involved evaluating future weather threats, forecasting the hazards involved, and communicating them via text or phone call the night before and morning of weather events. With the Storm Prediction Center, I helped work on a research project related to the predictability of tornado outbreaks utilizing medium-range ensemble forecast models. I worked a lot with Python, as well as reading previous academic papers on the subject of tornado outbreaks. I also gained experience with writing an extended abstract and creating a conference-style presentation, as well as expanding my network to those within NCEP/NOAA.
