Joel Brammeier
I was president & CEO of the Alliance for the Great Lakes while Sanjiv was chair of the Board of Directors. I reported to him and he managed my work with the advice of the board's Executive Committee. Sanjiv was a thoughtful and fair manager who also did not hesitate to tell me when he felt there was a better course of action to take. He understands both the business and mission demands of managing a nonprofit organization, and how they were at various times similar and distinct from running a for-profit firm. I'd recommend him for a nonprofit board leadership role. Outside of my time reporting to Sanjiv, he still provides strong business advice and volunteers to serve as a sounding board for new ideas and tough decisions. He is a pleasure to work with.
