I met Sjoerd in September 2011 on his first visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain. Our respective companies had signed an agreement to cooperate on developing the MENA market for iBanx HSE BV. My first impressions was that he was as cool as a cucumber, and he has proven on many occasions that he can keep a cool and level head even in the most heated of situations. We worked very closely for 3 years, and have become good friends. Sjoerd is a great business partner to have; regardless of the time of day or the fact that we operated two different weekends he was always available to discuss potential leads. Whilst he may not have consciously mentored me, I have learnt a lot from him in areas such as business development, change management, leadership, strategy and innovation. He is an excellent CEO, and a very good friend.
