Interning at learning vision in Changi Airport has encouraged me to always look at new experiences as a process of growth and better myself. I completed my internship with the intention to continually reflect on my goals in nurturing the lives of many young children with the best interest. Having learnt basic Islamic studies from primary school until Pre-university level has inspired me to share my knowledge with other young children and youth. The subjects I teach range from proper etiquette, Islamic Theology and the Arabic language. I had the opportunity to work in Julia Gabriel Centre as a part-time assistant teacher every Sunday. The school focuses on Arts and speech and drama for four classes, ranging from N2 to K2. Each enrichment class has a minimum of 6 to 12 children. Some learning points I gained from the drama centre are: • Practice classroom management skills and drama strategies to scaffold children's learning • Assisting the primary teacher with weekly routines such as health checks and toileting • Collaborating with professional educators of different working styles • Learn management skills in ensuring each drama class has the correct resources with the specific quantity for the enrolled children From the feedback given by the primary teacher I assisted, I was able to improve in being spontaneous and quick on my feet and learn how to facilitate the needs of the children, which influences the flow of the drama lesson. During my second year of practicum at My Jolly Educare, I had the opportunity to create three lesson plans on Arts, Music & Movement and Numeracy for a class of 8 K2 children. All lesson plans were based on the theme of transportation. While my tasks and responsibilities consist of assisting the teachers in daily routines such as nap, lunch, outdoor and indoor lessons, the teachers allowed me to experience various teaching opportunities. My mentor offered an opening to lead in storytelling and prompt purposeful questions for me to interact with the children. Show less

Working part-time at The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf® has nurtured me in broadening my horizon, to work with people of different personality and background, in providing excellent customer service to people who enjoy the drinks and delicacies at the shop.
